Mmmm Red or White?

The cool air is here, the leaves are starting to change, apple and spice something is baking all over town and most importantly, it is wine season for me. I love wine and as the nights get chilly nothing warms me like a nice glass of red, while eating warm from the oven apple crisp. I decided there had to be a way to satisfy this need in one glass, without some super sweet concoction with carmel drippings and whipped cream. Fresh fruit, apple cider, wine, whiskey and ginger brandy sangria were more of what I was thinking!

So here you have it, two wonderful Autumn Spiced Apple Sangria Recipes. I also threw in something yummy for the kids with the extra fruit.

The Conservatory Garden in Central Park

Spending time in the parks in NYC is one of the best parts of my day. The seasons are changing at all the parks in the city. Central, Battery, East River and so many more through out the upper east side. Now to find the perfect place somewhere in the middle to access them all. New condos are all over the place in Manhattan. Try some out if you are looking I fell in love with Ruppert Yorkville Towers Condominium, Azure, Laurel Condominiums and Evans Tower.

Tortoise Strolls

I recently took a free tour of the Conservatory Garden in Central Park. Joe, who hails from Wisconsin, was the volunteer/gardener leading us on this tour.  His love for the garden showed as he went into detail about the annual and seasonal plantings, while winding us through the 6 acre maze. It was mainly a horticultural event with a few history facts tacked on.  We learned that this was the 2nd most dangerous spot in Central Park in the 1970’s.  Good to know that  criminals appreciate beauty as well.  A lot has changed since then, in terms of safety, and now this part of the park is dominated by wedding ceremonies, Women’s Luncheons of the Central Park Conservancy, and tourists.

It’s worth noting that perhaps the end of summer is not the best time to visit, nonetheless, the majestic year-round beauty of the Central Park’s only formal garden, keeps everyone’s…
